Enhanced Search for Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Other Non-Latin Languages

Search should be seamless for everyone, but users of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese languages face barriers due to the current 3-character minimum search rule. Since a single character in these languages often conveys as much meaning as a whole word in Latin-based languages, this restriction creates unnecessary friction, impacting user experience and accessibility.

What’s changing?

We’re redesigning our search functionality to accommodate the unique characteristics of different languages:

• Korean, Chinese, and Japanese Characters: Search will now trigger with just one character, enabling quicker and more intuitive searches.
• Cyrillic Characters: Searches will activate with two characters, tailored to the language’s structure.
• Dynamic Messaging: Context-aware prompts will guide users, ensuring they understand when search results will appear based on their language input.
