Targeted Event Messaging with Behaviour-based Segmentation

Targeted Event Messaging with Behaviour-based Segmentation

The ability to communicate effectively with your attendees can make all the difference between an event that simply happens and one that truly resonates. However, as any event organizer knows, not all participants are the same—some are highly engaged, while others may need a little nudge to get involved. To help you address this challenge, we’re excited to introduce our latest feature: Behaviour-based segmentation for messaging.

The Problem: Generic Messaging Fails to Drive Engagement

One of the biggest pain points for event organizers is the lack of targeted messaging capabilities within event apps. Currently, there’s no way to specifically reach out to attendees based on their actions—or inaction—during an event. This often leads to blanket communications that miss the mark, either failing to engage those who need encouragement or overwhelming those who are already participating actively.

The Solution: Action-Based Segmentation and Messaging

To solve this problem, we’ve developed a much more powerful system for creating specific audience segments that can be used with notifications and emails. Our new Action-Based Messaging feature allows you to target attendees based on an extensive list of actions within the platform. Whether it’s encouraging a user who hasn’t yet visited a specific page or prompting feedback from those who have attended multiple sessions, this feature gives you the tools to communicate with precision.

Key Segmentation Examples:

  • Page Views: Target attendees who have or haven’t viewed a particular page - for example, to drive exhibitors to explore Teams on the web.
  • Profile Visits: Engage users based on how many profiles they’ve visited.
  • Pending Meetings: Send reminders to attendees with high numbers of pending meetings.
  • Session Feedback: Encourage those who have attended session but haven’t yet left feedback.
  • Actioned Recommendations: Reward or prompt further action from those who have used your recommendations.
  • MustMeet Preferences: Encourage attendees who haven't yet created enough meeting preferences to log in and complete the process.
  • Badge Scans: Follow up with participants who have scanned badges.
  • Mobile App Logins: Target users based on the platform(s) they have or have not used to log in - for example, to encouarge them to download and use your event's mobile app.

With these new segmentation options, you can drive more specific engagement and request feedback based on what attendees have or haven’t done within your event.

What You’ll Love About This

This feature isn’t just about enhancing the speed or efficiency of your communications—it’s about empowering you with unparalleled control over how you engage with your audience. Here’s how:

  • Precision Targeting: Create highly specific segments based on real-time attendee actions, allowing you to send relevant and timely messages.
  • New Operators: Utilize new operators, like “greater than” or “fewer than,” to refine your audience segments further.
  • Increased Engagement: By targeting messages to the right people at the right time, you can boost engagement levels, driving more meaningful interactions and better feedback.
  • Flexibility: Whether you want to encourage less-engaged participants or gather feedback from your most active users, this feature adapts to your needs.
