Better categorization with Parent>Child Custom Profile Fields

Create categories and sub categories for your event data

A Parent>Child Custom Profile Field is one that has at least two layers of categorization; incredibly useful for events where you have large amounts of data that needs to be navigated. You will be familiar with this concept through shopping on retail sites where you have millions of products, filtered by categories and subcategories.

Improve matchmaking and recommendations

Parent/Child Custom Profile Fields are a great way to deliver more accurate matches for participants at your event; a match at the top level might show a slight match, whilst a match at the third level would be incredibly strong. Take a couple of examples of set up:

A travel event where an attendee might be looking to find venues in Prague

Parent custom profile field:
Region (Europe)
Child custom profile field:
Country (Czechia)
Child custom profile field:
City (Prague)

A product-heavy event where an attendee might be looking for silver emerald rings

Parent custom profile field:
Category (Rings)
Child custom profile field:
Finish (Silver)
Child custom profile field:
Stone (Emerald)

Make exhibitors and products easier to find

The parent>child custom profile fields can be used as filters within your directories of people, companies and items, making it even easier for your participants to find what they're looking for at your event.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, there's no limits.

There are no limits to the amount of values you can add (e.g. number of cities) but as best practice we suggest no more than 5,000 across the event, to keep it manageable.

What you need to know to get started

Parent>child custom profile fields will be available in the admin dashboard from Monday 10th October 2022. Parent>child custom profile fields are multi-language, and available on both web and mobile for both free-flow and Hosted Buyer events.
